The Christian Unity Prayer Project:

(Psa 133:1 KJV)  A Song of degrees of David. Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

(Eph 4:3 KJV)  Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

(Eph 4:13-4:16 KJV)  Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:   That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;   But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:   From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

Prayer for Unity in Jesus: God's Love Given Once to the World, Forever to Whosoever Believeth

Introduction to

“Prayer for Unity in Jesus Christ: God’s Love Given Once to the World, Forever to Whosoever Believeth”

To All Christians, Dear Sisters and Brothers,

We send this prayer in order to promote unity in the church at large, which is the body of Christ, regardless of denominations or labels. We want to join with all Christians to place less emphasis on our differences, and put more emphasis on proving to the world that God sent Jesus (John 17:21).

We have great respect for your right to worship God in your congregation or denomination, in the way that you interpret the letter of the law, and we request of you the same respect to us in return. We seek only to find some common ground that we can share together in the scriptures.

We believe we already share with you in the unity of the Spirit, by the same Holy Spirit in all Christians. We want to keep and strengthen the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace, while we seek the unity of faith in God’s word in the Bible. To this end we have enclosed a prayer, which we hope may give expression to some of our similarities. We seek to find a prayer that we can pray together with you to ask God now for the perfect unity for which Christ already prayed, believing (John 17:20—23).
We believe that this unity is certain to happen, and that like Jesus, we get anything we pray for, believing (Matthew 21:22). And of course in this case, the prayer thus shared becomes a self-fulfilling part of the unity we pray for.

We want to be made perfect in love with one another, abiding together with you and all our brethren, with God, and with Jesus, united in God’s love for all Christians, of all Christian denominations and groups (1 John 4:12-21; John 15:9-12).

We’d like you to correct it as you see necessary, and pass it on to other Christian denominations, groups, or congregations. It is freely in the public domain, and may be copied, printed, or posted in any way, for any Christian purpose. We hope you feel free to add or delete from it in any way that you believe is required by the scriptures, and perhaps use it as a framework for a continuing dialogue with other Christians outside your own denomination or group boundaries. Perhaps such a prayer can become the basis for a sort of living “house of prayer”, which can change, as we all grow closer together in Christ (Luke 19:46).

If God sees fit to bless our efforts, He may allow us to participate in the unity He seeks for us. God has more than enough
power to do whatever is necessary to make it happen. The power of the Holy Spirit will show the world who it was that  sent Jesus.

We have written our return address (or reply email address) and we would appreciate hearing from you, but we have
intentionally left this letter of introduction unsigned so that it can be copied, as is, by others and so that you will know we seek only unity (John 7:18). We love you, our sisters and brothers in Christ, and would be pleased to hear from you any response you might care to make. Thank you, and God bless you in the name of Jesus. In Jesus’ name, God unite us.
